In the new plant computer system, the building and unit have been added as a prefix to the beginning of all point names using the following format: Cbb.Uu.******** Where bb represents the building number and u represents the unit number. For C-310 and C-315 (where there are no units (or only one unit)), the format is Cbbb.P.******** with bbb containing 310 or 315 (the 'P' is a placeholder, added to maintain the three parts of a point name, as well as to keep the original 8 character names aligned for sorting and searching).
The point ID numbers have also been changed in the new system. In the old system, commands addressed only a single unit and data type before accepting a point ID number. In the new system, the unit number (1 - 21) became the thousands part of the point ID numbers. For example, in the new system analog point number 253 in C31U3 would be numbered 3,253. Unfortunately, the old system allowed digital and smoke points to have ID numbers of 1 - n right along with the analogs, but since that was not possible in the new system, the following additional rules apply for digital and smoke points: Add 500 to the original digital point number and add 750 to the original smoke point number (plus the appropriate thousands value for the unit) to locate a digital or smoke by point ID number. EXCEPT IN C-310, where the rule is to use unit number 22 for the thousands value, and then digital point numbers are otherwise the same, C-310 smoke points add 500 to get to their new number.
The final naming change from the old system is that all of the C-315 points that are scanned by C31U1 have been named appropriately as C-315 points. That means that the leading 'A' was removed from the point name, and their prefix is 'C315.P.' instead of 'C31.U1.' as all the actual C31U1 points are prefixed.
The new system also includes points that did not exist (or existed in a different form) in the old CADP system. Some of these (like the current pressure gradient ID number) don't belong to any particular building and were therefore given a prefix of C300.P. The others are for reporting information about the new plant computer system itself and all begin with "PICS-".
What follows is the naming convention for the original CADP system, slightly ammended to include the new plant computer's values, too.
